The Anglophone Translator: Michelle Dowker

I spent my formative years growing up in an Anglophone environment in Southern Ontario. During my adolescence, I completed a French Immersion program which afforded me a strong working knowledge of the French language. Following my matriculation in public school, I completed 3 separate post-secondary programs including an honours baccalaureate degree in science followed by a masters degree in science as well as obtaining a 4-year diploma as a naturopathic physician. The addition of 9 years of post-secondary education has lent itself to my strong command of the English language – both written and spoken.
Both my career and education have resulted in my penchant for meticulousness in my work, my promptness with submitting projects as well as my proclivity for accuracy and professionalism. Having practiced as a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in British Columbia, I understand the necessity for professionalism, precision, and confidentiality, and maintain these values in my work as a translator and editor in Quebec.
Prior to my work as a naturopathic doctor, I spent several years working in a corporate environment at Manulife Financial, where I acquired extensive administrative skills which lends itself to efficiency behind the computer. My combination of education and corporate administrative experience has resulted in a level of intellectualism, professionalism, and adaptability which suits the translation and revision needs of any company irrespective of business sector.
